Do I need to pre-book?
No but it is always recommended to guarantee your lane as we can get very busy.
Do you offer free parking?
Yes in Sunniside Multi Story Car Park to the rear of the building. Please ask for a parking pass at reception which can then be validated at the desk on the ground floor of the car park.
How far in advance can I book?
Usually months in advance. Please be aware that any offers or discounts that are released at a later stage cannot be applied to existing bookings
Can I book online for now or in 10 minutes?
No, there is a one hour delay on all online bookings.
Do you accept walk ins?
Yes subject to availability.
Do you do Kids Parties?

Can I book over the phone? No. We are unable to take payments over the phone and as we are in a naturally busy and loud environment it is not always possible to answer phone calls.
I’ve seen an offer online can I walk in and get that?
No, most offers are online only and the site only have access to the standard price list at the till stations.
Can I get a refund if people don’t attend?
Yes if booked online, email bookings@sunderlandbowl.co.uk after your booking has passed so it can be verified and then sent off for processing.
I have a raffle coming up can you provide something for it?
Possibly, email bookings@sunderlandbowl.co.uk on the week of your event and we may be able to provide something for you to collect. Voucher collection is Monday – Friday term time only.
Are under 18’s allowed in?
After 6pm all under 18’s must be accompanied by a responsible adult to be on the premises and using the paid for facilities. No large groups of under 18’s without adult supervision are permitted at any time unless pre booked. Management reserve the right to bring this curfew forward if necessary without warning.
What ID do you accept for purchases of alcohol?
Drivers license & passport only as per our licensing agreement set by the licensing authority.
Do you have a cash machine on site?
No. Please come with cash if you wish to play on the arcades/pool tables. We have a change machine that can exchange notes to £1 coins. There are several free withdrawal cash points within a minutes walk from the site.
Can I leave my phone as a deposit?
No. This must be a cash deposit for the pool tables or a card deposit for the equipment hire in the upstairs area.
Can I bring my own darts?
No. They wont be compatible with our smart darts system.
What is a deposit?
A deposit is a held amount for use of the equipment. Upon safe return of said equipment your deposit will be returned.

What time do you serve food?
12pm – 9pm daily. Management reserve the right to change this without warning.

Do I need to wear bowling shoes?
No. Please wear suitable footwear though. No heels, open toed sandals etc.
Do you show the match?
All matches shown live on Sky Sports, TNT Sports and terrestrial television will be shown on our screen. We cannot show any 3pm games that are not televised as this is illegal.
Can I charge my phone on your premises?
No. We cannot allow customer to charge their phones via any power outlet as this can cause issues.
When is the next pool table free?
Pool tables operate on a first come first served basis and there is no way to determine this when they are full.
Why is there a booking fee applied to my booking?
This is not set by us and was introduced by our online booking provider in April 2025. This is a small charge to cover their fee and unfortunately we have no control over it.
I want to make a large booking what should I do?
E-mail bookings@sunderlandbowl.co.uk with your request & requirements and they will advise. Please give as much notice as possible. They will be able to create a payment portal for you to avoid any excessive booking fees.
Is upstairs open?
Upstairs is used at peak times and to accommodate large bookings. We are unable to send individuals upstairs when the downstairs area is not busy. This does not apply to darts, shuffleboard, gun range, table tennis or beer pong customers.
How does the lift work?
There are instructions inside the lift but it is very straightforward. One person from your group will need to call it from upstairs.
Where are the toilets?
There are toilet facilities on both floors and these can be located by a big illuminated sign.
What’s upstairs?
16 bowling lanes, a bar, 2 smart dart booths, 2 shuffleboards, table tennis, a virtual gun range & beer pong.
Do the bumpers go up & down?
No they are not automatic bumpers and would need to be up or down for everybody on your lane.
Do you do cashback?
No.
